BIO

Guy Nelson is an artist who explores the natural world and its relationship with human needs and challenges. His work focuses on the shared environment of plants and humans and emphasizes the importance of balance and preservation. Nelson uses acrylic on canvas and linen as his preferred mediums, and he also incorporates acrylic spray paint to create a surface that emulates the outdoors, which he finds atmospheric and mysterious. When he's not in the studio, Nelson is involved in conservation and land stewardship, planting trees, managing a deciduous forest, and maintaining over 100 acres of native grasses.

Nelson lives and works in Minneapolis, Minnesota; he holds an MFA from Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, NY). His work has been exhibited in notable group exhibitions at galleries such as 5-50 Gallery, NY: WICK, Minneapolis, MN; Transmitter Gallery, NY; Field Projects, NY; the Java Project, NY; Burnette Gallery, Woodstock, NY; Peninsula, NY, NY and solo exhibitions at Transmitter Gallery, NY; ChaShaMa, NY; UICA in Grand Rapids, and currently has a solo exhibition on view through July 27 at WICK in Minneapolis, MN.
